Applying for and Terminating Early Childhood Education and Care

An application for early childhood education and care must be submitted no later than four months before the child requires a place in Daycare Centre. If the need for  arises due to a parent’s or guardian’s employment, studies, or training and the start date of the need cannot be anticipated, the application must be submitted as soon as possible, but no later than two weeks before the child requires a place for Daycare.

Guardians will receive information about the allocated Daycare place through an electronic decision available in the eDaisy service.

Applications for early childhood education and care are submitted electronically through the guardians’ eDaisy account at:

Electronic services always require strong authentication through the Suomi.fi service, using either online banking credentials or a mobile certificate. To complete applications and forms in eDaisy, you must have an active email address. With the introduction of eDaisy, decisions are primarily delivered electronically. If you wish to cancel or amend an application, please contact the Service Coordinator.

The following services are available in eDaisy:

  • Applying for an early childhood education and care place
  • Enrolling a child in pre-primary education (with the option to apply for supplementary ECEC at the same time)
  • Submitting income information
  • Applying for a service voucher for private early childhood education and care
  • Applying for the municipal supplement to the private childcare allowance
  • Submitting notices of termination and changes

When completing an application, guardians will be asked to provide personal consent for income information to be verified through the Finnish Incomes Register.
